NEEDED TO IDENTIFY YOUR ENGINE AND PARTS NEEDED FOR YOUR ENGINE

The Model, Type, and Date Code numbers are
stamped on one of the external sheet metal parts and should be visible without haveing to remove any other components.

Good Examples
(Model 10A902)This number is your engine model.
(Type 1102-B1) The 1102 number is the variation of
your model and the B1 is a "trim" code for things like
colors of the engine.
You will only need the first four numbers.

(Code 991016ZA) This "Code" is your date code.
For this example, 99=Year 1999, 10=October, and 16 = day,
THE ZA IS A SHIFT CODE FOR THE FACTORY SHIFT THAT MADE THE ENGINE.
THESE TWO DIGITS ARE NOT NEEDED TO IDENTIFY YOUR ENGINE OR PARTS.

All of these numbers can be found in various locations on Briggs & Stratton Engines.
Look near (above) the spark plug/s on the metal starter housings.
Look Under plastic covers that are placed over pull start housings, sometimes they are stamped on the metal pull start housing, yet hidden by the plastic top cover on small 4.0 hp and engines.

Look on Muffler Guards, sometimes they are stamped on metal parts near the muffler.

Look on the Valve Cover or Rocker Arm Cover for numbers stamped.

Sometimes you will find a printed lable and metal stampings, use the metal stamped number if you find both.
